Success with sensory supports at school
Sensory supports are tools, strategies, or accommodations designed to help individuals regulate their sensory experiences and address sensory sensitivities or challenges. Their aim is to create a more comfortable and accessible environment that promotes learning, engagement, and participation.
Sensory supports, such as weighted blankets, fidget toys and wobble cushions are frequently available in schools. Many schools run sensory circuits and a plethora of children have a sensory diet. However, these sensory supports are not always used safely or effectively.
