Developing a nurture provision to support SEND pupils in the mainstream
A nurture approach focuses on children’s learning and social and emotional needs. Its aim is to give all children the help they need to remove any barriers to learning so they can access the curriculum and fully participate at school.
More than 100 studies have demonstrated the positive impact of ‘nurture’ in schools. These include improvements in social and emotional skills, attendance, attainment, behaviour, and reduced exclusions.
3 takeaways from Liz’s training session
– Unpick what we mean by a ‘nurture provision’ in a mainstream school setting –
– Look at practical examples of nurture provisions in different settings –
– Provide a framework for planning a whole-school approach to nurture –
This session is aimed at Senior Leaders, SENCOs and Teachers working with children with SEND.
