Supporting attention and listening skills
for children in school
Attention and listening skills are the foundation to learning language and accessing classroom activities. Learning to focus is a really important part of early development that helps us to listen to others and engage in shared activities. But how can we help children who struggle with attention and listening to develop these crucial skills?
Specialist SLCN Advisor, Sarah Billingham explores key strategies and approaches to boost attention and listening skills.
These strategies are based on her expertise as a speech and language teacher with a focus on emotional regulation for children 3-8 years old, as well as 18 years’ experience supporting children with SEND.
