Making meetings work for children, parents, SENCOs and schools
SENCO of 4 schools and SEN Consultant, Ginny Bootman shares simple, tried and tested ways to make your meetings more collaborative and more effective.
SEND meetings should be ‘all about the child’. But it’s also crucial to gauge the feelings of those attending and to ensure everyone is valued and listened to. Consciously connecting with parents in meetings helps to build stronger and more robust relationships. Whilst small physical changes can also make a big difference to a welcoming meeting space that enables collaboration.
Ginny is an educator with over 25 years in education as a classroom practitioner, SENCO and Headteacher who is passionate about all things concerned with special educational needs. She believes in a caring approach that involves listening to others and putting ourselves in their shoes. Ginny embodies her mantra #followtheempathyroad in everything she does.
