Sherann Hillman is Head of Family Services at Seashell Trust. Seashell helps children and young people with very complex needs, and their families, live their best lives. It’s a charity dedicated to providing a creative, happy and secure environment for those with complex needs and additional communication challenges. Using her in-depth knowledge of SEND, Sherann supports families and represents Seashell nationally. She also advocates for the participation of children, young people and parent carers in the co-commissioning, co-design, co-delivery and co-assessment of services locally and nationally.
Sherann is herself a parent carer of 3 young people who is passionate about ensuring that children, young people and their families are at the heart of all services and legislation. Sherann was significantly involved in the amendment to the Children and Families Act 2014 to allow parents and carers the right to an assessment for support. She also sat on a number of key local and national work streams including the SEND Implementation Board and Advisory Board (DfE) and was a member of the Rochford Review
